Hi! We are Nikolina and Josip, a couple with Croatian roots who grew up in beautiful Switzerland. Our love for travel has accompanied us for many years, but in the summer of 2024, we took a special step: we got married in Croatia and decided to embark on a whole “honeymoon year” instead of traditional honeymooning. This decision was more than just a wish for a vacation – it is our shared dream to explore the world, and we wanted to put it into action now.

Josip works as a Data Engineer and took a year off unpaid for this journey. I (Nikolina) quit my job after 13 years in the finance industry to spend this special time together with Josip. It wasn’t an easy step, but we knew it was the right moment to begin our adventure.

Even before our honeymoon year began, we were passionate travelers. Together, we have created unforgettable memories in Switzerland, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Germany, Zimbabwe, South Africa, La Réunion, Mauritius, and Spain. We love discovering new cultures and being inspired by the diversity of this world. Individually, we have explored many corners of the globe: Josip has traveled to Australia, England, Italy, France, Colombia, and Mexico. I have ventured to England, France, Austria, Italy, Portugal, the USA, and many countries in Central and South America, including Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Peru, Chile, and Brazil.

With our blog “Part of Our Adventure,” we want to document not only our travel experiences but also inspire others to start their own adventures. We aim to show that the world is full of wonders waiting to be discovered. Whether it’s breathtaking landscapes, exciting encounters with people, or cultural highlights – travel is, for us, the key to enjoying life to the fullest and growing as individuals.

Since the start of our honeymoon year, we have already visited incredible places. From the tropical beaches of Bali to the fascinating underwater worlds of Komodo and Nusa Penida, to the vibrant metropolises of Seoul and Tokyo in Japan. Each place we have traveled to has shaped us in a special way. But this is just the beginning – there is so much more to see!
